ACCRETIED EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGIST

Stephanie Goode

My name is Steph and I am an accredited exercise physiologist who has completed both a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science and a Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology at Southern Cross University in Lismore.

I come from a large family that is made up of mostly women and I have seen many of these women go through health concerns without knowing how to access support from the allied health sector or aware of what support is available to them.

During my time at university and beyond, I continued to noticed a large gap in education and in the workplace focussing on Women’s Health. I have since directed almost all of my professional development into that space, with aspirations to be able to bridge the gap between allied health and women’s health. I am qualified in Clinical Pilates and see this as a priority area for rehabilitation and exercise for females.

Seeing how extraordinary the changes are in our bodies as women, particularly pre- and post-natal, and how well our bodies adapt during these times has inspired me to increase my knowledge and skills to this area in order to assist females to prepare, maintain and repair their bodies at this special time in their lives.

ACCREDITED EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGIST

Leah Jenkins

Leah is an accredited Exercise Physiologist with a Bachelor's degree from the Queensland university of Technology.

Her passion for Women's Health began during her travels in London, where she worked with a Women's Health physiotherapist who had a passion for pre- and post-natal pilates. This experience allowed her to meet a lot of interesting women, truly learning about the beauties of female anatomy and the importance of exercise treatment throughout a woman's life.

Throughout Leah’s studies she took particular interest in women's health anatomy and conditions. She noticed first hand the limited knowledge there is about women's health within the population and industry. Leah’s goal is to provide education and increase knowledge around the importance of looking after our health as women especially during times of major change from adolescents to pregnancy and menopause. She thoroughly enjoys reformer Pilates and finds it a wonderful form of exercise to teach and participate in.

It is Leah’s priority to continue to develop her knowledge in the women's health space and to make physical health and wellbeing a priority in a woman's life.

ACCREDITED EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGIST

Mikaela Corrigan

Mikaela is an accredited Exercise Physiologist having completed my Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology through Charles Sturt University, and has her certification in Advanced Clinical Pilates.

Her Pilates journey began when she was younger, first being introduced to this mode of exercise when she did ballet; she fell in love with Reformer Pilates. The reformer is such a versatile piece of equipment and Mikaela herself got to experience firsthand the benefits you can gain from Reformer Pilates.

Over the course of the past few years, she has been surrounded by an increasing number females who have each been dealing with their own health conditions. Each have had their own struggles with trying to access services and education surrounding their conditions.

It is from this experience that she has developed a passion and keen interest in women’s health and supporting women through various conditions as well as the incredible journey through pre/post-natal.

Mikaela is committed helping women through movement and continuing to expand her knowledge and expiertise in this space.

ACCREDITED EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGIST

Helena Doran

Helena is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and has her certification in Advanced Clinical Pilates.

Throughout my masters I gained experience in a number of areas that became areas of interest for me; oncology care, women’s health, paediatrics, chronic pain and intellectual disabilities. I believe exercise is the best medicine and strive to educate and assist people to be able to live life to the best of their ability.

However my passion for women’s health began when being surrounded by women of different stages of life when working as an undergraduate at ProHealth EP. This lead me to gain my Level 1-3 Equipment Pilates Course and begin teaching Reformer Pilates. I now have several years experience of 1:1 and group classes, and love attention to detail to promote purposeful and safe technique.

Having spent my life surrounded by a mostly female dominant family, completing 15 years of classical ballet training, competitive dance and sport throughout school, and as a strength and conditioning coach for a 1st Grade Women’s Rugby Union team, these opportunities exposed me to the incredible processes the female body goes through across the lifetime. It opened my eyes to how many women are impacted by chronic illnesses and associated long term effects, and the lack of knowledge and options available.

I strive to use exercise and Reformer Pilates as a way to educate women on their body, manage symptoms, and build confidence and strength to be able to tackle everyday life.
